State Hermitage Museum Duration – 1,5 - 5 hours The State Hermitage is one of the oldest and largest art museums in the world. It was founded by Catherine the great in 1764. The museum is located in 5 historical buildings of St. Petersburg, among them there is the Winter Palace, the former residence of Russian tsars. The Hermitage collection numbers about 3 million items from prehistoric to modern times. Magnificent works of art embracing prehistoric culture, Egyptian art, the art of Antiquity, and great collections of Western-European paintings and sculptures are displayed in 400 halls of the museum. Peter and Paul Fortress Duration – 1 - 3 hours Peter & Paul Fortress was founded by Peter I in 1703. Besides the ancient fortifications, you will visit the St. Peter and Paul Cathedral of the early XVIII century (architect Trezzini) with the burial tomb of Peter the Great and other Russian tsars, including the last Russian tsar Nicolas II and his family, that was reburied there in 1998, the museum in Trubetskoy bastion prison, becuase from the middle of the 18th century till beginning of 20 century St. Peter and Paul Fortress contained Russia's political prison. You could also see a lot of different expositions, for example "The History of St.-Petersburg, museum on cosmonautics and missilery; have an excursion "Panorama of the Neva" - over the roofs of the fortress' bastions and curtains. Excursion can be included into City Tour.
St.Isaak’s Cathedral Duration – 1,5 – 2,5 hours St.Isaak Cathedral is one of the most impressive architectural monuments of the XIX century (architect Montferrand), the former main cathedral of the Russian capital, the largest cathedral in the city, the 4th highest one-cupola construction in the world, richly decorated with monolithic granite columns, paintings, mosaics, sculptures, marble and semi-precious stones, which is able to accommodate about 12,000 people. The observation platform on the colonnade provides a magnificent view of the city. Excursion can be included into City Tour.
Church of Our Savior on Spilled Blood Duration – 30min – 1,5 hours
During your visit to the Church of our Savior on the Spilled Blood you will see fantastic art of Russian mosaics. You will learn about the fate of Russian emperor Alexander II, killed right at the spot where the Church was build. Excursion can be included into City Tour.
State Russian Art Museum Duration – 1 - 3 hours The Russian Art Museum was opened in 1898 in the Mikhaylovsky Palace (architect Rossi). The museum is the world's largest museum of Russian art and numbers nearly 400,000 works. The museum exhibits the collection of icons, wonderful pieces of graphic art, sculpture, applied art (XVIII-XX centuries) and the Avant-garde painting of the XX century. It contains works by Great Russian artists: Rublev, Shubin, Kiprensky, Fedotov, Repin, Levitan, Serov, Nesterov, Roerich, Malevich and many others.

Mikhailovsky (Engineers) Castle The castle was constructed to protect Russian emperor Paul I. Ironically, it was here, where he was assassinated just 40 days after the construction was completed. Since 1817, the castle housed an Engineering School, which was attended by many great Russian figures of the past, including famous writer Feodor Dostoevsky.
Marble Palace An architectural monument of the mid-18 century. Over 30 tints of marble were used for the decoration of the Palace, hence the name Marble Palace. Now it contains collections of the Modern Art as well as paintings and sculptures made by foreigners living in Russia.
Stroganov Palace During almost 2 centuries, it was the property of Barons and Counts Stroganov. A permanent exposition “The Gallery of Russian Porcelain” is opened in the restored enfilades of the first floor.
Yusupov Palace Duration – 1,5 - 4 hours The Yusupov Palace, build by Vallin de la Mothe in the Early Russian Classical style, represents a rare combination of an architectural monument and a temple of art. The interiors of the Palace are unique in their decoration. It was a residence of noble, extremely rich and respected Yusupov family. The Palace is outstanding not only for its architectural and artistic merits, however, but also for the events that happened there in December 1916, with the murder of Grigory Rasputin.
Central Naval Museum Duration – 1 - 2 hours One of the largest navy museums in the world, established in 1709. The museum exhibits the items related to the history of Russian Fleet. The museum stores over 800 thousand exhibits including ship models, over 3 500 banners, over 7 thousand items of arms, weapons, and military facilities, about 2 thousand paintings. The boat of Peter the Great that is also exhibited there is the unique one since it was done by Peter himself.
Russian Ethnographic Museum Duration – 1,5 - 4 hours Unique collection of the museum reflects the everyday life and culture of over 150 peoples of Russia in the 19-20 centuries The collections numbers over half a million exhibits, including folk costumes, embroidery, materials and furs. The "Special Storeroom" features the traditional adornments of different peoples, weapons and cult objects made of precious metals, pearls, precious and semiprecious stones. A new permanent exposition “Peoples of Russian North-West and Baltic Countries” is open.
Boat tour through rivers and canals From the very beginning the city was built on water, on 42 islands in delta of Neva River. Peterhoff (Petrodvorets) Duration – 4 - 6 hours The Palace-and-Park Ensemble of Petergoff is a jewel of the Russian art, a town of parks, palaces, and fountains. In the past it used to be an exquisite summer residence of Russian tsars. Upper Garden and Lower Park, genuine masterpieces of landscape design, number over 150 fountains, 4 monumental cascades. On the territory of the reserve, there are 9 working museums (the Grand Palace, Monplaisir, Catherine's Block, Marli, Hermitage, the church of St.Alexander Nevsky (Gothic Capella), the Benois family museum, Cottage, and the Bath Block. Grand Palace is the largest architectural construction of the Peterhoff ensemble. The graceful building with galleries, sparkling gilding of domes was stretched by its facade along a terrace almost on 300 meters. The Monplaisir Palace is the oldest building in Peterhof where Peter had his living quarters.

The Palace-and-Park ensemble of Pushkin (Tsarskoe Selo) - a former country residence of Russian emperors - is a fascinating monument of the world's architectural and gardening arts of the XVIII-XIX centuries. Its three parks occupy the area of 600 ha, on which over 100 architectural constructions rise: from magnificent palaces and grand monuments to intimate pavilions and park sculptures. The compositional centre of the Tsarskoselsky ensemble is Catherine's Palace, containing exquisite decorative objects, furniture, Russian and Western-European paintings, unique collections of porcelain, amber, arms, decorative bronze, sculptures etc. Nowadays, the collection of the museum Tsarskoye Selo numbers about 20,000 items. Amber Room if one of the most interesting rooms of Catherine Palace. The basis of furniture of this interior was made by amber panels executed by the German architect Shluter. During the years of the Second World War the Nazi troops stole amber panels from the palace. Now the Amber room is completely restored after more than 30 years of restoration. Alexander’s Palace - the last palace of the imperial family of Nicholas II. It's been recently opened to the public and is not rich in decoration, but has a certain charm of the memories and spirit of last members of the royal dynasty, who spend their last months in the Palace.
Pavlovsk Duration – 4 - 7 hours Pavlosk is a superb palace-and-park ensemble of the late XVIII - beginning of the XIX centuries that was used as a summer residence of the Russian emperor Paul I and his family. The landscape park, one of the largest in Europe, covers the area of 600 ha. The formation of the collections of the Pavlovsky Grand Palace was closely connected with the trip of its owners over Europe in 1781-1782. They visited workshops of well-known artists, ordering and acquiring paintings, furniture, bronze articles, silk fabrics, china sets etc. They brought to Russia a large number of antique sculptures from Italy, as well as gifts from European royal courts. The museum also displays an excellent collection of portraits by Russian artists and a number of Pavlovsk landscape paintings and drawings. Magic, huge landscape park was laid around the Palace of Paul I, who was looking for solitude in this quiet picturesque place. Johann Strauss performed with an orchestra in the building of the Musical Station in the park.
Oranienbaum (Lomonosov) The palace-and-park ensemble on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland opposite the town of Kronstadt. In 1743, Oranienbaum became the summer residence of the future emperor Peter III. A fortress ensemble with a petite palace was constructed for him to the design of architect Rinaldi. Later, Rinaldi was commissioned by the Empress Catherine the Great to erect the Chinese Palce and the Katalnaya Gorka (Sliding Hill) with a pavilion. The architectural style of these monuments is distinguished by the subtle blend of rococo style with traces of classicism. Oranienbaum is famous for its landscape parks dating back to the middle of the XIX century. The following museums are available to visit: the Chinese Palace (opened only in sunny clear days without rain), the palace of Peter III, the Japanese pavilion of the Bolshoy (Menshikovsky) Palace.
Gatchina Duration – 3,5 - 5 hours The Palace-and-Park ensemble consists of the Gatchina Palace (architect A.rinaldi, 2nd half of 18 century) and the park – the first landscape park in Russia. The palace throughout its history was the residence of the Russian emperors Paul I, nicknamed “the most romantic Russian Emperor” and Alexander Ø. On display: gala halls of the 18 century, exhibition of Western-European and Russian paintings and arms of the 17-19 centuries. The romantic feature of the Gatchinsky Palace is an underground tunnel to the lake. The pride of the park are the unique pavilions “Birch House” and “Pavillion of Venus”.
